I saw a man die last night

Last night, I was driving across town to pick up sushi. Suddenly, I noticed debris scattered about in the street and 4-5 cars pulled over on the shoulder. Upon closer inspection I noticed that one of the cars, a green hatchback, was flipped over and a man was trapped underneath.

The situation really didn't register for me. My mind was saying, "You just pulled up on an accident that occurred no more than 30 seconds ago, you must respond." However, I was mainly in shock. I feel like I should have stopped to help. Maybe we could have rolled the car off the guy, I don't know.

I do know that when I drove past on the way home there were 2 ambulances and at least 7 police cars.

That's some heavy shit for your Sunday night.

My man Gary Garner doesn't mess around very much. He plans on becoming an actor whenever LA gives him a chance.

Who is John Galt?

Uncertain times require conviction and love and character. I have read a few books here and there but none of them impacted my belief system in the way that Atlas Shrugged did and still does. Ms. Ayn Rand cuts deep and forces you to reevaluate every area of your life. Here is a small segment of a speech from Francisco D'Anconia, one of the book's heroes:

"To the glory of mankind, there was, for the first and only time in history, a country of money--and I have no higher, more reverent tribute to pay to America, for this means: a country of reason, justice, freedom, production, achievement. For the first time, man's mind and money were set free, and there were no fortunes-by-conquest, but only fortunes-by-work, and instead of swordsmen and slaves, there appeared the real maker of wealth, the greatest worker, the highest type of human being--the self-made man--the American industrialist.
"If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose--because it contains all the others--the fact that they were the people who created the phrase 'to makemoney.' No other language or nation had ever used these words before; men had always thought of wealth as a static quantity--to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth has to be created. The words 'to make money' hold the essence of human morality.
"Until and unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to be the tool by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of men. Blood, whips and guns--or dollars. Take your choice--there is no other--and your time is running out."

Kurt Vile- Blackberry Song

A good summertime cut off of the Kurt Vile album Childish Prodigy. One of my favorite releases from 2009.

The Dr. and I have been advocates of high end gear from the very beginning. One of our absolute favorites is McIntosh Labs. It is an old school brand that has been making amplifiers by hand since 1949.

One of their newest pieces is the MXA60. It was created by the same team that built a $250,000 McIntosh reference system. This is obviously scaled back but it will still fetch a price.

Origins

Okay. So the Dr. and I have received a fair number of questions about how the blog earned its distinctive name. At this time I can't offer any sort of bulletproof explanation because doing so would invariably kill some of our mystique and hard-earned Midwestern swagger.

What I can tell you is that two precious commodities played a significant role. Namely:

1. Gold
2. Diamonds

Another factor happens to be a bird of prey and one of the stewards of a proud but young nation:

1. The Bald Eagle

Those three elements form the bedrock for what you have come to know as DiamondsInTheEaglesNuts.Blogspot.Com

We remain excited about our mercurial beginnings and look forward to dropping knowledge for your benefit on a daily basis.
