Origins

Okay. So the Dr. and I have received a fair number of questions about how the blog earned its distinctive name. At this time I can't offer any sort of bulletproof explanation because doing so would invariably kill some of our mystique and hard-earned Midwestern swagger.

What I can tell you is that two precious commodities played a significant role. Namely:

1. Gold
2. Diamonds

Another factor happens to be a bird of prey and one of the stewards of a proud but young nation:

1. The Bald Eagle
